I read blogs not just to get tips or learn a few things I'd figure out anyway, but to hear another person's voice tell me what's important and why. We haven't really distinguished between blogs that have a readership vs. blogs that have people search them or check in for particular things, but it's an important distinction. You absolutely want the former, so that way one is not dependent on search traffic forever. My own thought is that the best content is heartfelt.
