Search Status
I had been looking for a toolbar that allowed me to view the whois info for any site visited. I’ve just discovered the Mozilla FireFox Search Status extension. SearchStatus, courtesy of Quirk, a Cape Town Internet Marketing firm, gives the curious webmaster whois and much more.
Visit a site and click to get the Google PageRank, Google Category, Alexa popularity ranking and backlinks from the big 3–Google, Yahoo! and MSN that appear in new tabs. The SearchStatus search extension for Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox is licensed under the GPL. Not at all a gimmick, but a truly useful tool and another reason I’m being drawn to Firefox.

If anyone knows of a similar tool, please share.

You should check out the new version, SearchStatus 1.19 – it allows you to do all of the old stuff as well as view Compete stats.

Hi, I enjoyed using this tool for Firefox, but with the last update the function “Show Backward Links” was changed, for example with previous version links in Yahoo looked like this:
1) http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=linkdomain%3Aexample.com+-site%3Aexample.com&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8
and now they look like this:
2) http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=example.com&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=s
Can you please let me know what I should do so the links look like in option 1?
Thanks
