A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Digg Front Page
Take a look at this story that speculates about Digg’s plans in relation to the recent bannings. I submitted it to Digg and was tracking it on DiggBoard:

My Story Submission 2 Minutes Later is gone:

I had been watching the story (highlighted in yellow) rise for hours until it starting placing at the top of the Tech Industry and Technology categories’ Hot and Most Dugg when suddenly the story dropped off completely. I checked the Digg site to make sure it wasn’t just an issue with DiggBoard (great tool by the way) but it had lost all popularity.
Did I just get a visit from the Digg Bury Brigade?

I was watching the story rise as well. I rarely get submissions to digg, so when I saw the number of votes I got interested. When it disappeared I had no clue what happened. I thought maybe the story ran out of time, but I thought it had at least 4 hours remaining.
I have no idea why it would be buried like that either. It actually was fairly unbiased and some general speculation.
Thanks for submitting it.

it probably triggered some internal filters

Rob, It’s nice to know I wasn’t the only one watching this. I had read about this happening but to actually see a story disappear before my eyes was quite something, especially when this was turning out to be a great candidate as my first submission to go popular. I thought it was a great story and I look forward to reading more like it from your site!

I generally do not like to do this… But I believe this may help you and your readers…

Benny, Thanks for sharing the post. I always enjoy reading your stuff. I took away several goodies from this one including that Check4Change FireFox plugin I hadn’t heard of.

That’s pretty strange thing to happen. Maybe you really had been visited from the Digg Bury Brigade..

This happens all the time, and I think it happens most often when moderators remove a story from upcoming because it does not sync up with their editorial guidelines. It possible that it accumulated a large number of buries and was removed, but I do not believe that happened for you.

That’s good to hear, Brannovate. I was hoping it was an editorial thing and not that my Digg username had some kind of flag on it.

There’s a new issue about digg regarding power diggers.
